Safeguarding children statistics: the availability & comparability of data in the UK(0.20Kb)Scoping review to draw together data on safeguarding children and compare the position of England with that in other countries (Phase 2)
The study builds on work undertaken by the research team to explore what data are published internationally on safeguarding children from physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, neglect and exposure to intimate partner violence and from child death and injury.
Aggregate administrative data on child maltreatment in England, New Zealand, New South Wales (Australia), Norway and the USA are being analysed to examine changes in the recognition of, and responses to, abuse and neglect over time. In collaboration with an international expert working group the research team are exploring: the availability and comparability of data; policy and practice developments and the consequences of these (drawing on research evidence as well as administrative data); issues concerning interpretation of findings and implications for policy transfer.
