About CWRC

About the Childhood Wellbeing Research Centre

The Childhood Wellbeing Research Centre (CWRC) undertakes research to inform policy to promote children's capabilities and life chances and to support strong stable families and communities. We take a strategic approach to generating evidence, including to help protect children from neglect and abuse as well as from the more subtle pressures created by today's commercial and technology-rich environments. We develop the knowledge base through a programme of substantive research projects. An additional rapid response facility aims to meet more urgent, smaller scale government requirements.

The Centre has expertise in topics on:
Children and young people's wellbeing and participation in different settings;
Parenting and family support;
Safeguarding children;
Addressing inequalities; and
Economics of children's services.

The team has a number of strengths:
quantitative secondary data analyses including longitudinal analyses;
qualitative data collection and analysis;
reviewing and synthesising existing research;
developing conceptual frameworks;
economic analyses.
